Sara & Andrew: Romantic Meadow Brook

I loved working with Sara and her family on her big day! Till this day probably Sara had the most sophisticated color palette that I ever got to work with. It wasn't just antique pink that made it special but the collection of complementary colors that were really unique! The colors she picked were light, romantic and fresh and gave a sense of "old time charm". Sara picked for her reception venue Meadow Brook Mansion which as usual was amazing and just completed a romantic vision that she had in mind. See how everything came together for Sara and Andrew below.

Kasia & David: Vintage Polish Love.

Last fall I had a pleasure of working with an amazing couple. (I have to disclaim this also because I am lucky enough with our team to work with a lot of amazing couples). Kasia being 100% Polish and always being involved in local Polish community (as much as even dancing in a Polish Folk dance team) knew that Polish theme would be a big part of her wedding. She also loved vintage elements and wanted to create a very cozy reception for her guests. Obvious choice for a venue was the American Polish Cultural Center. She ended up picking the new section of the banquet hall that is a blank canvas and she wanted to bring the vintage elements in through our decorations. We did something very daring because we actually picked very dark navy table linens and instead of going with traditional light colored chair covers with picked even darker chocolate ones. Only our centerpieces were white with champagne and gold accents. Kasia also wanted to bring in the peacock theme into our color combination and we did that in a very delicate way. There were only few  nudges to the theme, such as table numbers and in few places peacock feathers. Being really busy with preparing this 350 people wedding I completely missed the window for taking my photos and just got few that were not acceptable to share. Thankfully Marek Dziekonski, totally saved the day by taking amazing amount of detailed photos from the reception. Below photos with exceptions of maybe two are all his! (Yes you will know which two I took....) Also Marek has quite a few photos on his blog post - be sure to check those out as well.

First and formost is Kasia's bridal bouquet. All white and champagne with some greenery and lots of texture. The stems were wrapped in lace and antique crystals and pearls.

Bridesmaids had bright royal blue dresses so in order to create some dramatic pop of color we chose to go with also very textural bouquets with shades of white and champagne and few greenery.

Here is entire bridal party standing in front of St. Florian church in Hamtramck.

If you have never been inside of St. Florian, it is truly amazing and very vintage looking.

In a true Polish wedding there has to be a flower girl! And head wreaths / wianki are very common for the girls to wear. I love creating little details like this little head piece for Kasia's flower girl!

The view of the room in American Polish Center right when guests started coming in.

We created two different types of centerpieces for Kasia and David. This one is a manzanita branch centerpiece with gold accents, crystals and candles. On other tables we had tall floral arrangements filled with flowers.

A detail of the head table. We dressed it up with a mixture of vases, branches and candles. In the back you can see our vintage frame design with peacock feathers.

Oh and did I mention the head table had three layers or tables?

We've designed little details such as the notes above to give more vintage charm to all the elements.
The photo on the left is actually on of the mom's bridal gown! We had it hanging right outside of the reception room. (I mean how amazing is it that both moms still had their wedding gowns? Talk about a perfect occasion to showcase them.)

Polish table is a must at Polish wedding! This one was truly awesome. That's where you could find pierogi and also variety of other small-plates-type of snacks.

Kasia and David cutting their beautiful wedding cake!

Kasia and her Oczepiny! Very Polish tradition. Here done by Czarny Dunajec, our amazingly talented local Polish Folk Dance team.

And here Czarny Dunajec performing for all the wedding guests. (How cool is that?) Back in the day when I was starting this business I remember there were quite a few Polish weddings that used to get Polish Folk dance groups performing at weddings. I have to say this was the first one in a really long time that I have seen. Maybe it's coming back? Let's hope!

I truly think our beautiful couple had the time of their lives on their wedding day. Our entire team is wishing Kasia and David countless years of happiness and 100 lat of love!

Kim & Mike: Spring is in the air!

With a busy spring, summer and fall it has been super hard staying socially active and doing actually all the wonderful work for our clients. Now when the wedding season is slowing down I can finally catch up! I have to say that one of my good "paper" friends in the wedding industry said few years back that people who do often blog posts aren't really busy... was totally right. It is quite a challenge balancing life and social life.

Kim and Mike have been married for quite some time and to me it feels like it was few weeks ago. I have met my wonderful couple few months before their wedding at their venue in Cherry Creek Golf Course while we were setting up a wedding for Michelle and Chris. Kim and Mike loved their set up some much that really wanted it all very similar. (But of course no two weddings are alike!) So we put our own spin by incorporating coral tones, picking out vintage blush linens and champagne pillowcase chairs covers. Setting up a sweetheart table instead of traditional long head table also made entire wedding romantic. Kim and Mike ended up having their own very special day. We wish them many more ahead filled with lots of love.

Attached are few photos from what Cherry Creek looked like all set up.

Here is Kim's bridal bouquet with a variety of flowers including wonderful parrot tulips and white peonies.

An up close of vintage brooch that Kim received from her grandmother was a really elegant touch.

Michelle & Chris: Romantic Fall Wedding!

Michelle and Chris picked not only an awesome Michigan season to get married in but also they picked one of my all time favorite venues in Metro Detroit, Cherry Creek Golf Course. Since Cherry Creek is full of large windows it is very bright in there till late and it has a very magical feel. Michelle wanted to do a combination of navy and green as primary colors for her wedding but later had a change of heart. We incorporated a lot more champagne, ivory and navy, green were more of  accent colors. Michelle also had a vision of keeping everything pretty vintage so we incorporated laced details to our vases. One of really pleasant surprises was that Michelle didn't want a traditional wedding cake, instead she has ordered entire sweets table from Moonwink Bakery. Photo of the table is below and I must say it was awesome. Cupcakes had really nice elegant details and everything matched our color scheme just perfectly. It was an absolutely stunning day and some of the photos from Veldman Photo are just a true reflection on how perfect it was. Congratulations to both of our Bride and Groom and we wish them a very happy life together!

Jola & Chris: Opening Fall Wedding Season

We were super excited to work with Jola and her fiance on planning their wedding. We previously had a chance to work a little with Jola on her brother's wedding in 2012. This time, inspiration for the wedding was Michigan fall. Both bride and groom loved the outdoors and hunting so it only felt natural to somehow incorporate it into their wedding. A natural fall color palette helped us bring the outdoors indoor. Our centerpieces had iron vintage stands, we incorporated deep greenery from antique green hydrangeas, branches and also had details of deer antlers as additions to our centerpieces. We had warm candlelight lighting in the room to add to the romantic fall look. Traditional Polish appetizer table was full of amazing goodies, including venison, jerky, lard and Polish moonshine. Our amazing couple really knew how to celebrate their day. Dancing and fun lasted way past 1am!

Below is a shot of  Jola's bridal bouquet. It had few types of roses, stock, spray roses and chocolate cosmo flowers!

And here are few beautiful photographs from the wedding taken by Dresden Park Photography.

Winter Wedding: Peacock inspiration.

Caitlyn & Andy, November 2012

So again I have fallen behind on my posts. I need to really get on top of it since there are still event from 2012 that haven't been posted. This wedding that we designed for Caitlyn and Andy was really different and charming. Caitlyn picked out a beautiful location, because the ceremony and reception took place at The Whitney downtown Detroit. Caitlyn wanted to stick to pretty clean color palette with ivories and whites but she wanted to add peacock feathers as a theme element to entire wedding. In order to pull everything together we decided on navy color with gold accents. Our centerpieces were variety of different sizes of manzanita branches. Our branches had crystals and hanging candles from them as well as a touch of flowers. For the ceremony that was set up on second level we had pipe and drape with golden fabric draped on it that was surrounded by lots of candles. Seating for guests was set up with the use of mahogany chavari chairs. Caitlyn was a unique bride because she didn't want to wear white. Her dress was a magical dark navy sequence dress. Entire day was chilly yet filled with love!

Below is Caitlyn's bridal bouquet with a little peacock feather accent.

Below are wonderful photos from Alix Photography to see more of her work or more photos from Caitlyn and Andy's wedding please visit her site!
