Kasia & David: Vintage Polish Love.

Last fall I had a pleasure of working with an amazing couple. (I have to disclaim this also because I am lucky enough with our team to work with a lot of amazing couples). Kasia being 100% Polish and always being involved in local Polish community (as much as even dancing in a Polish Folk dance team) knew that Polish theme would be a big part of her wedding. She also loved vintage elements and wanted to create a very cozy reception for her guests. Obvious choice for a venue was the American Polish Cultural Center. She ended up picking the new section of the banquet hall that is a blank canvas and she wanted to bring the vintage elements in through our decorations. We did something very daring because we actually picked very dark navy table linens and instead of going with traditional light colored chair covers with picked even darker chocolate ones. Only our centerpieces were white with champagne and gold accents. Kasia also wanted to bring in the peacock theme into our color combination and we did that in a very delicate way. There were only few  nudges to the theme, such as table numbers and in few places peacock feathers. Being really busy with preparing this 350 people wedding I completely missed the window for taking my photos and just got few that were not acceptable to share. Thankfully Marek Dziekonski, totally saved the day by taking amazing amount of detailed photos from the reception. Below photos with exceptions of maybe two are all his! First and formost is Kasia's bridal bouquet. All white and champagne with some greenery and lots of texture. The stems were wrapped in lace and antique crystals and pearls.




Bridesmaids had bright royal blue dresses so in order to create some dramatic pop of color we chose to go with also very textural bouquets with shades of white and champagne and few greenery.

If you have never been inside of St. Florian, it is truly amazing and very vintage looking.



In a true Polish wedding there has to be a flower girl! And head wreaths / wianki are very common for the girls to wear. I love creating little details like this little head piece for Kasia's flower girl!

We created two different types of centerpieces for Kasia and David. This one is a manzanita branch centerpiece with gold accents, crystals and candles. On other tables we had tall floral arrangements filled with flowers.

Oh and did I mention the head table had three layers or tables?



We've designed little details such as the notes above to give more vintage charm to all the elements.
The photo on the left is actually on of the mom's bridal gown! We had it hanging right outside of the reception room. (I mean how amazing is it that both moms still had their wedding gowns? Talk about a perfect occasion to showcase them.)



Polish table is a must at Polish wedding! This one was truly awesome. That's where you could find pierogi and also variety of other small-plates-type of snacks.

Back in the day when I was starting this business I remember there were quite a few Polish weddings that used to get Polish Folk dance groups performing at weddings. I have to say this was the first one in a really long time that I have seen. Maybe it's coming back? Let's hope! 



I truly think our beautiful couple had the time of their lives on their wedding day. Our entire team is wishing Kasia and David countless years of happiness and 100 lat of love!

Purple is good any season!

This past fall season has just been great. We had wonderful clients and all of them had pretty clear visions of what they wanted to achieve. Kristen started out with minimalist approach but with support of her family and mother in law her ideas have reached a new level of sophistication. Once again we had a pleasure of working in St. Florian Church in Hamtramck. (It almost never happens that we have the same venue twice in a row, but that month it did!). It is really fun to see how the same room can be transformed differently based on different color palette and different ideas. Kristen's wedding had 300 guests so we had lots of tables to work with. We had two different types of centerpieces, low and tall. Low centerpieces had candles that gave out warmth and tall centerpieces had more flowers and had pin spots to highlight all the wonderful purple tones in them. Our linens were deep purple and had extra shimmer to them as well as lots of embroidery. We also did backdrop behind two-level head table, which we lit in lavender to accentuate it more. We didn't have too many lights because of the large size of the room but we had just enough to add interest and help out in enforcing our palette. Best feature of entire room was a huge Polish appetizer table that had home made sausage and different kinds of meats as well as bread (and anything you can imagine as far a traditional Polish snacks go). Our couple had a beautiful day, they looked gorgeous and together with my team we wish them best of luck as a married couple!

University of Michigan wedding colors.

Yes! Finally a yellow wedding! I couldn't tell you how long we have been waiting for a bride that would want to use yellow for her wedding. Yellow is just such a happy color and there are so many beautiful flowers in that shade that it is an extremely fun color to work with. Our bride and groom, as you might suspect both are connected to University of Michigan, that's why picking a color scheme for them came effortless. Both, the wedding and the ceremony were at the well known Polish St. Florian Church in Hamtramck. We've never had an event in that space before so it was refreshing to work with a new space. Setting up a layout and figuring out what would work best was really fun. As you can tell, we had navy linens, white chair covers with yellow sashes and yellow napkins. Our flowers were all yellow and white. We had LED bases lighting up our vases as well as blue lighting that added extra color to the room. We also had a backdrop behind the head table and ceiling draping above the cake and the dance floor. Our bride and groom looked absolutely stunning and we could not be happier for them. Red and White: True Polish Wedding!

Few weeks ago we had a pleasure to work with another wonderful Polish couple. We planned together a really traditional Polish wedding. Direction on colors that we received from our bride and groom was simple, "we want red and white". Since our linens gave us a lot of bright red color we decided to design flowers that were almost all white with just touches of red. We had pin spots shining on them which gave the flowers glow. We also had red lighting around the room. Only head table wall was lit in white LED light just as our vases and few accent drapes. We had drapes for the entrance as well as bar and ceiling. We custom designed favors as well as Paperie Design Studio designed table numbers for our centerpieces. Our PNA banquet hall looked nothing like what we started with. I can't wait to see photos from Agnes as well as footage from Video to Remember. Joanna and Dariusz were truly wonderful we wish them all the best. Gratulacje!

White and Red Polish Wedding

Few years ago I have done a wedding for Estera's sister. Her wedding back then, without much hesitation was red and white. When this time around, Ester and Marcin came to us right away they told me their colors are red and white. I knew that we couldn't make both of weddings in their family look alike because this would be totally against our rules! So with the use of the same colors we created quite a bit different composition. I have to say that I don't think we have ever done a wedding THAT red. We were a bit scared that it might be overpowering but it looked awesome. The hall was so warm looking and so vibrant that it really screamed with joy and made an impression right away when you walked in. Our linens were shimmery red, chair covers were satin white with red satin sashes. Flowers we kept very simple. Mostly we used, variety of red roses with white hydrangeas and orchids. It was a beautiful wedding and best wishes for my wonderful couple! Gratulacje kochani!

Between planning our wedding with family and working on other weddings for my clients, this summer really kept me busy. Karen Sas took those beautiful shots above. I think she did a great job. Flowers and decorations of the hall of course I took upon myself. I don't recommend that as I went to sleep the night before the wedding at 4am but on a bright side it is possible to do! Colors I picked were peach, burnt orange, brown, ivory and a little bit of pink. I just wanted something different and was in love with that color palette. My dress and shoes were extremely comfortable which lead to me dancing my night away. I have never drunk that many pitchers of water in my life in one night. We had a great time, and I would love to do all of this one more time.
