Winter Wonderland: Dream New Year's Eve Wedding

What is a better way to celebrate and begin a 2012 than with a 300 guest wedding? Marissa and Josh started planning their wedding with us already last year. From the beginning our goal was to make everything winter wonderland theme. Lots of blue shades, silver and white. For our centerpieces we had all white rose arrangements with silver filler and silver thread that gave a frost-like effect. LED bases under vases gave an extra cool effect to all of the tables. Hanging crystals almost looked like icicles. Reception took place in San Marino, which was completely transformed by dramatic LED lighting. Wonderful wedding cake was done by Militello's Bakery and decorated with our flowers. Entire wedding was documented beautifully by Agnes Photography. It was an awesome New Year's Eve night and great way to start 2012. Congratulations to our first 2012 bride and groom!

New Year's Eve 2011

It is March already and we have been pretty busy this winter. In Michigan, wedding season starts somewhere around April. So we have been doing quite a few other events as we wait for our spring weddings to roll in. One of the biggest events this winter, New Year's Eve event that we do every year in American PolishCultural Center. This year we decorated two halls for 760 guests that arrived that evening. Both of the halls as usual, had different styles and colors. The new hall had a lot of younger audience coming in so we decided to do something dramatic and contemporary. Our plan was to have everything black and white and add hot red to accent and add energy. We played around with using round shapes as well as horizontal lines. This look could also work for a contemporary looking wedding. Red and black after all are 2011 wedding colors.

In the second hall, we decided to do a little bit more classic look with a twist. We knew that in the main hall there is usually ballroom-like dancing and music so we didn't want to design something that wouldn't fit that feel and audience. In previous years we used a lot of gold and a lot of burgundy colors. So this time around we decided to take a way different approach. Our colors we decided on were champagne and silver. A lot of people couldn't visualize what we had in mind till actually the day of the event. We wanted very soft look but still something that would be impressive. Our centerpieces were all silver and they had LED lights in them so when the main lights were dimmed you could see the tops of the palms shimmering. This color combination is unique and to be honest I have never seen it being used for a wedding. So if you are thinking of doing something completely original this might be an interesting option.

New Year's Eve

Ah so once again New Year's Eve party is done and over with. For those that went to an actual event in American Polish Cultural Center, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. For all those that didn't and would love to see what it looked like this year, I am attaching few shots. Also I hope to see you there next year!

In the main hall, colors were gold and white. The LED lights, as always look blue on the photos.

In reality they were a little more clear looking. 

In the new hall, colors were black and fuchsia, with little additions of silver.

Our LED lights in here were pink. And of course on photos they turned out more blue.

New Year's Eve 09

So like every year, once again I decorated/designed New Year's Eve party.

I love doing it but I won't lie by saying "it is easy", even thru this is my 6th New Year's Eve Party in a row for over 600 people. There are guidelines to follow that make it a little bit more difficult. With this economy - number one being small budget. This year we decided to go with Winter Wonderland theme: blue, white and silver combination in one hall.

And burgundy, gold & red in another.

You can see on my pictures how it turned out. With dimmed lights, bands being set up and everyone on the dance floor it really came together.

I know this isn't a wedding post, but for those couples looking for something different, this might be an option. Other than that, hope to see you there next year!
